Maison Courvoisier

In the heart of Jarnac, the Maison Courvoisier has been reimagined by Gilles & Boissier, blending heritage and modernity within a refined setting.

Jarnac, France

Upon entering, a monumental artwork by Lilian Daubisse, entitled Orbes, immediately draws the eye.

Composed of nine spheres made of corrugated cardboard, it evokes the passage of time through the growth rings of trees.

A direct homage to the oak barrels that shape Courvoisier cognacs.

The Bar Lounge, a true cabinet of curiosities, offers an immersive journey into the world of cognac, where light filtering through the bottles creates the illusion of being inside a decanter itself.

The Tasting Room, adorned with engravings by François Houtin, faithfully captures the Charente landscape: rolling vineyards, dovecotes, and stone bridges.
To preserve the authentic perception of cognac, the space features Breccia Capraia marble, chosen for its delicate veining and subtle tones.

On the first floor, the Founder’s Lounge embodies the memory and soul of the Maison. Its dark wood paneling evokes a signature phenomenon of the cognac cellars: la part des anges the natural evaporation of cognac that gradually blackens the walls over time.

This effect was intentionally incorporated into the décor, highlighting the connection between the aging process of cognac and the passage of time.

The space is anchored by a central piece: a portrait of Félix Courvoisier, painted by Véronique Van Der Esch, known for her figurative and realistic style, working exclusively in oil on canvas.

Inspired by photographs and sketches, the portrait pays tribute to the visionary founder, watching over his legacy with a timeless presence.

The Napoléon Lounge, bathed in natural light, opens onto a breathtaking view of the Charente River the very waterway that enabled Courvoisier to flourish internationally.

This lounge is defined by a striking artwork by Molly Gambardella: a pink creation inspired by the organic forms of lichens, horseshoe crabs, mushrooms, and flowing rivers.

Its fluid, living appearance symbolizes the connections between nature, transformation, and renewal a poetic echo of cognac’s evolution over time.

The salons lead gracefully to the majestic Dining Room, where a monumental Palissandro marble table takes center stage.

The space is elevated by the works of Zoé Ouvrier, whose wood engraving technique reveals the very essence of the material.

Her pieces evoke bark and skin, emphasizing the intimate connection between time, nature, and the craftsmanship behind cognac.

Finally, the top two floors house the guest rooms, each adorned with a unique wallpaper that affirms its distinct identity.

Before reaching them, a small sitting room welcomes visitors in a soft, inviting atmosphere.

The color palette and carefully selected furnishings enhance the sense of intimacy and refinement.

Through this renovation, Courvoisier celebrates its heritage and excellence, blending tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and design in a project where every detail tells a story.
